# Energy

**Energy** is the main resource used to participate in reward-generating activities in Rune Hero.

It limits the rate at which resources and equipment enter the game while allowing players to decide which activities matter most to their progression.

#### Energy Consumption

Energy is consumed in the following ways:

* **Dungeons** — Energy is deducted once when the player enters a dungeon.
* **Outland** — Energy is deducted once when the player enters Outland. Activities performed inside Outland do not consume additional Energy.
* **Life Skills** — Gathering and production activities require Energy.

Energy costs may vary by activity and game version.

#### Daily Energy Recovery

Every player receives a base amount of Energy through daily recovery.

Players who want additional Energy can equip an Arcane Crystal, charge it with Arcane Dust, or use other Crystal options available in the current game version.

#### Arcane Crystals

Players can equip **one Arcane Crystal at a time**.

An equipped Arcane Crystal provides:

* Additional daily Energy recovery
* Additional Energy when charged with Arcane Dust

Each equipped Crystal can be charged once per day.

> Once a player uses Energy while a Crystal is equipped, that Crystal cannot be unequipped for the rest of the day. It becomes available to remove again after the next daily reset.

For complete information about supply, rental, upgrading, and marketplace access, see [Arcane Crystal NFT](https://whitepaper.runehero.io/rune-hero/economy/arcane-crystal-nft).

#### Crystal Quality and Upgrading

Arcane Crystals can be upgraded to improve their quality.

Each upgrade requires:

* **One Primary Crystal** — The Crystal that will be upgraded
* **Material Crystal** — The Additional Crystal used for the upgrade

Higher-quality upgrades require more Crystals in total.

| Target Quality | Upgrade Composition |
| -------------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| Exquisite | Common Crystal x1 + Common Crystal x1 |
| Rare | Exquisite Crystal x1 + Common Crystal x1 |
| Epic | Rare Crystal x1 + Common Crystal x1 |
| Legendary | Epic Crystal x1 + Common Crystal x1 |

#### Energy by Crystal Quality

Higher-quality Arcane Crystals provide more Energy through both daily recovery and charging.

| Crystal Quality | Daily Energy Recovery | Energy from Charging |
| --------------- | --------------------- | -------------------- |
| Common | 1000 | 200 |
| Exquisite | 1800 | 300 |
| Rare | 2500 | 400 |
| Epic | 3000 | 500 |
| Legendary | 4500 | 600 |

Energy values and upgrade requirements may be adjusted as the Energy system is balanced.

#### Damaged Crystals

**Damaged Crystals** provide new players with an entry-level way to gain additional Energy and understand how the Crystal system works.

They allow players to experience more early-game activities before deciding whether to rent or purchase an Arcane Crystal NFT.

Their availability and usage rules follow the current game version.

#### Crystal Rental

Players who do not own an Arcane Crystal may rent one through the in-game marketplace.

A rented Crystal temporarily provides its Energy utility to the renter, while the owner receives the agreed rental fee.

Rental prices and availability depend on Crystal quality and marketplace supply.

#### Managing Energy

Players can allocate Energy across combat, gathering, and production according to their available time and progression goals.

Because only one Crystal can be equipped and it becomes locked after Energy is used, players should choose their Crystal carefully before beginning their daily activities.

Efficient Energy management is an important part of character progression and the wider Rune Hero economy.
